28 Ways To Increase Site Traffic

by jack on September 26, 2009

If you're new here, you may want to be on the lookout for a little guy that pops up once in a while...he has some very valuable stuff.

Thanks for visiting!

I recently asked members what was the biggest problem they faced, and 58% of people who replied said web site traffic.

So, I thought it would be good to go over the 28 ways to increase site traffic.

The 28 ways to increase website traffic are:

  • Pay Per Click
  • Email Marketing
  • Article Marketing
  • Reciprocal Links
  • eZines
  • Banner Ads
  • Direct Mail
  • Podcasting
  • Press Releases
  • Search Engine Rankings
  • Forum Marketing
  • Blogging
  • YouTube / Video Marketing
  • Text Links
  • Radio Ads
  • TV Ads
  • Viral Marketing
  • Directories
  • Telemarketing
  • Refer-a-Friend
  • Newspapers
  • Back-End Sales
  • Co-Registration
  • Affiliates
  • Cross Linking
  • Teleseminars
  • Joint Ventures
  • Social Networking

If you want more traffic to your website, one or more of these methods will be the key to your success.

For some sites, joint ventures will work best.  These kinds of sites normally have a thank you page with a special free/discounted offer to members/subscribers (like an opt-in thank you page, or product download page).

Others might do cross linking, or cross promotions, where you send a promotion to your list, and another person sends your promotion to their list.  Some people I know do just these kind of cross linking/promotion, and they are extremely successful.

You might have a site that works best with pay per click, where you sign up at google, yahoo, msn, or one of the smaller search engines, and buy an ad for a keyword, and pay only when someone clicks on your ad.  It is tricky business to set up correctly (e.g. to make profit), but if you know what you are doing, you can get an absolute flood of website traffic using this one method.

If you are more technical, you might want to rank for some search term, and get your traffic using the search results of google, bling and yahoo.  This is usually a longer term project, but multi-millionaires like weddingfavors.com claim they got to where they are today by using SEO.

If you produce lots of content, you might want to consider setting up a podcast channel on iTunes, or start a teleseminar series using one of the many teleconferencing solutions available freely online.

I recently tried using a banner ad on a site that looked targeted, and I was surprised just how effective it was.  The trick is to make the banner blend in with the target website and not look like one of those “in your face” flashing banners from the 90’s.

Feel like going offline?  Sending postcards to a well picked mailing list can bring in a quick million dollars, if you know what you are doing.  It’s relatively cheap too, and costs are going down all the time.

All in all, if you need more site traffic, take a good look at this list of 28 ways to increase site traffic, and decide on your plan of action.

I’m sure there is something there that will do the trick for you.
