How To Add Facebook Like Button To a Page

by jack on August 29, 2010

If you're new here, you may want to be on the lookout for a little guy that pops up once in a while...he has some very valuable stuff.

Thanks for visiting!

Tip: Add Facebook Like Button To Page In 10 Seconds

Back in May 2010, Facebook introduced a new feature where you could add their like button to one of your web pages.

It didn’t catch on fast, but now everyone and their dog is racing to add this feature, and I’d like to give you the 10 second way to add the facebook like button to any webpage you have editing privileges for.

Embed Facebook Like Button

How To Embed The Facebook Like Button On Any Page

First up, sign in to your facebook account.  If you don’t have one, you are weird…er, wait…go sign up now, and then come back and follow along.

Ok, logged in?  Next, go to the add page on facebook, and you’ll see a form like the one right here.

Just pop in the URL (the webpage you’d visit) that you want to put the button on, then choose whether you want just the button, or a count of how many click it (very useful for social proof type of marketing). If you want to see little headshots of everyone who clicks the Like button, then keep the “Show Faces” checked, otherwise turn it off.

Next, choose how wide the button will be (try the default if you don’t know), and then choose either “Like” or “recommend” as the button text (Like is the one that everyone knows), and then choose a font that blends well with your website.

For the font, usually Arial or Verdana will fit with most pages, but if you want it to blend with Titles instead, you might want to test Tahoma or Lucida Grand.

Finally, you need to choose either a light color or a dark background for the button (and usually light will be what you want).

After you have all that done, click the “Get Code” button, and you’ll get a chance to choose either “iframe” code, or “XFBML” (some fancy Facebook extensions, which mean you need to get the javascript stuff installed).  Take the one you want, and then place it into the SOURCE of the webpage your are publishing, and preview it to make sure it displays properly, then publish away.

There you have it – the 10 second way to add facebook like button to any page you control.

My Think and Grow Rich Review

by jack on March 19, 2010

Here is my Think and Grow Rich review, in response to the comments left on my Think and Grow Rich page.

think and grow rich review

First off, Napoleon Hill did not intend for you to read his book and become rich the next day.  The fact is, most people who were poor and became rich either stumbled onto something that made it easy for them, or had one of those cataclysmic days where everything went so dreadfully wrong, they made a 180 degree change in their life, and started on the road to success.  Usually, these 180 degree changes in life involve Napoleon Hill’s teachings.

Most people who read Think and Grow Rich did one very common thing…they read the book and promptly forgot everything they read.

And the result?  They got NO result!  You might hear it said these days that the rich are the ones who took action…meaning they put into practice what they learned.  So, if you are one to read and do nothing, I’d say save your money and read fiction, because nothing will be able to save you from yourself.

If you are one to pay attention, have a strong sense of curiosity about life, and a strong mind to discern truth from fiction, you may well transform your life by hearing what Napoleon Hill had to say.

Like that well known phrase “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, Hill’s discoveries are simple and easy to put into practice, but they must be put into practice!

For some of the teachings, like “a pleasing personality”, it is best if you seek out the feedback of others…to ensure you indeed have a pleasing personality in the eyes of others.  Sadly, our own self impressions are often not shared by others, but by using your discerning mind, and seeking out the feedback of others, you will indeed learn to hone your own self behavior to develop that fantastic personal trait of a pleasing personality.

Other lessons, like using your own mind to determine truth, and not trusting the word of others blindly, this takes time to develop, and requires you take a good look at your inner workings.  Yet, anyone can develop this sharp discerning mind, and be able to have that ability to see opportunity when it stands before you.

If you think you are ready, head over to the Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich videos, and get ready to take some notes.
